Having recently got a s1xp and already owning a tr2 i would say that if the size of the tr suits you then the s will feel big in comparison and i often feel that if i did not have the tr i would not take a laptop with me.
A few thoughts about the two machines
One thing that stood out for me was the build quality was a lot better on the s than the tr i got.
The keys on the tr are a lot easier to see in dark situations as being white you can at least make out each key.
Keyboard on S is nicer to use on a every day basis as its larger and better sprung but lack of fn key by arrow pad is a pain.
Heat wise the s stays relatively cool most the time and compared to my works lifebook e running the older 1.7 chip it is very cool. I don’t notice the fan if i have any other background noise. Its funny as the left hand side of the notebook feel cold to touch so the cooling must work.
All black case on the s make sure to clean you hands, cause greasy finger marks show up real bad and you will be out with the polish all the time.
Speakers on s blow the tr away and been impressed by sound so far, not that i use them much i have my shure earphones.
I mainly use my notebooks for general day to day work and also for processing and editing photographs. Most of my work is taken in raw so any extra processing power is handy. I could have managed with the tr and it has served a purpose for when I go away and need something small and brilliant battery life, but on a day to day bases the s comes into its own.
In a way I could have easily got by with the tr but the s was calling to me…
