depends on what’s your definition of cheap.. might want to consider the dell 2001fp
[quote author=“tifosiv122”]The Dell 2001FP is usually around $750 with coupon…its a 20” LCD display that has a 16ms response…16x12 native…I love mine, it’s the best display i’ve had.
Every connection imaginable (S-Video, RCA, etc)...PIP, USB, Tilt, rotate…etc..

[quote author=“Drachen”]If you really want desktop real estate, go for a pair of Dell 2001FP 20” LCDs. They are damn impressive, and if you buy two, you can take the lady out to a nice dinner with the extra $200 you save (they’re on sale right this minute).
I just got myself one, and I am loving having dual LCDs!
[quote author=“hansenen”]hmmm, 750 might be a tad bit too much, I ahve to convinve my computer illerterate father to buy it, but i’m thinking more $500-ish
Then you need to redefine your def. of big. No big LCD will be near $500…nor will it be good if its big and that cheap.
What do you want to do with this LCD?
Games?
Photoshop?
it seems i don’t know much about lcds at all…. i’m sorry for my ignorance
alright, I need a monitor for college, which will be my only monitor, so i want a 19” and i realiced those are like 700, so i guess 700, and i watch a lot of dvds and divx videos.

If you watch movies you need (in most people’s opinion) a monitor with a response rate under 20ms otherwise you will get image problems with fast moving objects.
99% of the monitors out there are 25ms and useless for any sort of movie watching.
If you can spend the $700, go for a few more $ and get the Dell…nothing is even close to that in price and features…at 16ms.
[quote author=“hansenen”]its $800 now for the 20 inch dell, any coupons? or should i just wait more. its 10% off now, is that the best?
$800 is a bit high. Earlier in the week it was $779, but it can go as low as $750 around this time. Last month they went as low as $721 but it was the end of the quater, don’t expect prices like that for a few months.
Anywhere between $750-775 free shipping should be your goal price.
They change the price every few days, keep checking back.
Get the NEC LCD1765 display. Unfortunately the rebate of 70 bucks on it from CDW expired recently…I got this lcd from USA for my parents in India, and I totally love this display…it’s got a glossy finish just like our TR’s and it looks absolutely fantastic. The only drawback is adjusting it’s stand…it’s an absolute nightmare!
However, since it’s 17 in. it might not qualify as the “big” LCD that ur looking for.
Wow, thanks guys. I bought a NEC MultiSynce LCD 1530V four years ago, and it’s worked pretty decently…haven’t seen that ghosting at all though. I usually watch full screen DVDs or .VOB rips in VLC, and aside from my archaic video card doing some weird interlacing, everything seems pretty smooth…however, I’m thinking about buying a new LCD…only cause 1024 x 768 is dinky now. :(
I’m with you, nox. I have an old NEC 15” MultiSync LCD 1525x. By the end of the year I am looking to have my desktop upgraded (which includes the monitor). I’ve had my eye on this Dell 20” for some time. It is really a sweet unit.

I have an 18” Viewsonic LCD as well, doesn’t come close to the Dell, the Dell is truly amazing for the price.
