I was trying to play Max Payne 1 on the new TR—but I installed it and clicked on the icon, I just see the splash screen, the disc spins up, then nothing—the disc spins down, and I get depressed.  I’ve tried installing the patch.  Any thoughts?

Intel swears on the precious that it should run on the 82852/82855 GM/GME. Maybe it’s the sound driver?

Hm…yesssss, they do.  I tried updating the GME drivers and installing the latest Payne patch, compatability mode, still nothing.  Anybody able to get this working?  I was really hankering for some noir gaming…

...and now I’ve got it.  Dunno if anyone’s tried to run Payne, but there’s a conflict with the program that controlls the TR’s function keys and Max.  Kill HKWnd.exe in your processes, and you’re good to go.

Very decently in 1280x768 @ 16-bit—very playable, certainly.  Payne doesn’t have a native benchmark option, so no framerates from me, I’m afraid.  Of course, none of this really plays to the TR’s gaming strengths—erotic Japanese dating sims.
