can anyone tell me where to get a cable to connect the power socket of my TR5 (beside the iLink socket) to the power socket of LaCie PopcketDrive (Firewire external Hard disk)?
[quote author=“linc”]they did that so you would buy the over priced pcga-hdm06 which has the cable built-in.
After the quality research that gave us the Bluetooth upgrade (including a lens that should hardly be available in the US), what’s a piddling cable?
What is the voltage/current rating of the power jack. I don’t recall seeing it in the published specs. I sure couldn’t find the current draw of the TR when I went looking. Just specs. on the power adapter (which would be overrated).
not sure what the output voltage is on the tr but the pcga-hdm06 needs 10vdc in.. i didn’t notice any step-down transformers when i opened mine for the 60->80GB upgrade..
the TR power supply is 16V, 4A, so one can assume a battery voltage of approx. 12-14V. The LaCie can operate in the voltage range 3.8-30V, since it has an internal voltage regulator and needs 8W of power. Making a cable is not a problem if I could only find the plug which goes into the TR socket. The other plug is similar to Nokia mobile phone chargers (3 mm coaxial).

Is the cable with the plug attached to the drive?
If so the company mentioned in the Bluetooth upgrade thread may be able to find him a replacement cable.
