Fellow TR3A owners, users, and fans:
Prior to the TR3A, I owned an SRX77, and I searched long and hard for a laptop bag that offered amenities normally found in larger bags (i.e., accessory pockets on the Targus monstrosities, etc.).
Anyways, I found all the features I was looking for in the Tumi 2661 / 9661 (ballistic nylon / leather, respectively).
The main features of the bag:
- shoulder strap
- collapsable, to conceal or reveal a once partitioned document compartment
- Front compartment with the following:
—pen loops
—business card holder
—zippered change pocket (which I use for my wallet while traveling)
—non zippered pocket, useful for cell phone or small camera
—hook to hold keyring
- A smaller front compartmartment that can barely hold a travel document case, but could easily hold tickets, passport, baggage claim ticket, etc.
- An over-the-handle sleeve, for attachment to a rollaboard suitcase
- A once partitioned main compartment, with:
—removable foam supports on either side of the laptop (which makes for a perfect fit of the TR)
—A pocket in the seperate partition that is perfectly sized for CD’s.

Contents of the bag while pictures were taken:
List of contents (for approximation of bag volume):
Wallet, Travel Wallet, Pencil, Pen, Screen Cleaning apparatus with spray bottle of solution, DSC-U30 Camera, Keys and Corporate SecurID, MDR-NC10 Noise Cancelling Earbuds, ZipLinq Retractable RJ11 and RJ45, Ethernet Crossover Adapter, Keyspan USB-Serial, Ericsson USB charger, Targus Auto/Air Adapter, SWAT DVD(with case), and some mail .
Oh, and of course, the TR3A with PCGA-BP3T double capacity battery was also in there.
This is a full travel configuration for me, and I’ll admit the bag bulges a little. If I pared down, eliminated the DVD case, the travel wallet, and the usb-serial, the bag would compress a little better.
The bad news is the cost and availability. I have not seen this bag in stores recently, and thus it might be discontinued. I paid $200 on ebay for the 9661 (leather), new in box.
Anyways, just thought I’d offer up this mini review should folks still be searching for the “perfect” bag.
