Hi all,

I tried to use my SonyEricsson P800 Mobile phone as a Bluetooth Modem to my TR5 to dial-in my University server. I was successful but got only a speed of 9.6 KBit/sec. With my Apple Titantium PowerBook, I get 28.8KBit/sec using Bluetooth and tha same Phone.
Any idea how can I make this configuration faster?

should be the same speed since you used the same phone for both. perhaps the university server was slow?? did you try to connect at around the same time or on two seperate occasions?

It could be a configuration issue on the TR. Have you tried tweaking any of the modem settings? Also, even though it says it’s connecting to your University server at 28.8…is the actual throughput that high?

When I use my BT phone with my TR and Type S notebooks, it also says 115.2Kb/s connection even though i know in actuality that the throughput is really around 40-52Kb/s.

I noticed the same thing. I think it’s reporting port speed and may not have a clue what the gprs rate is.
