Yes. Most MS service packs are cumulative.

I like the CDs because when you need to completly reload a CD you can just pop the CD in and install the updates faster then redownloading them.  Also if your working on somebody elses computer and they don’t have an Internet connection at the time you can still install upgrades form them (I find myself doing this a lot).

alright answering to my own question since no one answers them.

It has no problem. Installed SP2 last night all my BT functions still work like a charm!

Anyone here uses Symantec Norton Antivirus 2004? The security centre can’t seems to detect the antivirus properly. I have to disable the monitoring by it.

I hate the new wireless connection icon in the systray! Now it doesn’t show both the in and out going signal!  :evil:

Good to hear your BT was not screwed by SP2. IIRC Symantec was going to do a major update of their software to support SP2, but in the same hallowed tradition as MS, Valve and any other great software house that bothers with release dates, it’s late out of the box .

Correct. SP2 is nothing new, developers have had their chance to comply for months already.

Compatibility with other software could also prove a problem. Testing has shown that some programs will be incompatible and this could make companies reluctant to roll the update out to hundreds of desktop computers without rigorous testing.

But Wysopal suggests even individual users might do well to be cautious. “I think it is always good to install service packs soon after release but not on day one,” he says. “I usually wait a week or so to make sure that there aren’t serious compatibility issues.”

So far, it’s been rock solid for me with no compatibility issues. I hope it continues to be this way…it’s good.

If I install SP2 now do you think the Norton Internet Security 2004 will still work & just update it when Symantec get their act sorted out?

The Symantec SP2 update is available!!

Just installed SP2 on my TR which showed the Security Guard Warnings.

Then ran LiveUpdate for my Norton Internet Security 2004 twice which installed a WMI update on the second pass. This installed an application which asked if protection status should be shared with other applications (default set NO). Untick this box & click OK then WinXP SP2 properly recognises the Norton AntiVirus & Firewall 8)
