for sale is sony laptop TR2A 512 MB, 802.11b, Intel Centrino Ultra Low Voltage 1 GHz, DVD/CD-RW built in drive, 40 GB HD. The laptop is in excellent condition.
Laptop comes with battery and charger. Payment is cash only due to high price item if buyer picks up in San Diego, California. Otherwise, I only accept cashier check/money order. If buyer picks up, he/she can inspect the laptop any ways he/she wants to.
i live in San Diego, North County area. forget to add. If item is pick up, just pay $1600, no s/h fee. otherwise, it’s $1600 + s/h. s/h fee depends on the location and if buyer wants an insurance or not. I can ship using any method buyer wishes, but I usually go with USPS Insured Priority Mail since USPS usually pays up to the insured price if something goes wrong with the package, unlike FedEx, UPS, or other carriers only up to US$500. Therefore, insurance is very recommended, but it’s up to the buyer, not me. Item will be ship after the payment is cleared.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please email me.
I think ur mistaken about insurance offered by UPS. My uncle ships by UPS and from there I’ve learnt that UPS offers a minimum insurance of $100 and 30 cents (thats for my uncle, for a customer he might charge $1 or so per $100) per $100 from there on.
gameson, do you plan to post your TR on Ebay? Either way, I would like to know what you end up getting for it. I plan to put my TR3A up for sale right before the next TR comes out. That is if it has the right specs. I need a reference for where to price it, though. I’ve never used Ebay to sell.
Truth I do have to say that when I’ve been looking for my P900/TR2/T1 I’ve always ignored people with no feedback straight away. I know this might seem cruel but it’s not worth it for the money.
If you act now you can try buying some things off ebay to get a few feedbacks first, then you’ll be home free…
Selling without feedback on ebay is what I consider a good risk factor. Unless I know the seller real well from another site or market, I generally try to research the seller out more thoroughly.
In any case, I have dealt with 0-feedback sellers in the past. I bought my Acer Travelmate C102Ti Tablet PC from a 0-feedback seller for $900.00, including shipping. I actually negotiated with him to sell for that price when the price for used was still at around $950 to $1,000 on ebay. Of course, it was a risk that nearly drove me crazy, but the computer finally arrived in my college post-office box last year and I was satisfied with the deal ( I resold it off for about the same price after a few months to finance my Compaq x1010US ).
I actually bought my TR3A off-ebay from an ebay seller with over 100 feedback. His sale wasn’t doing so well, so I made him an offer. He ended auction early after I raised the money to buy the TR3A by selling my x1010US and using part of my credit card through PayPal. My TR3A came, looking almost brand new, still with stickers on the palmrest, no shining on keyboard, and only about 6 charge cycles on the OEM battery. I risked $1,300 ( including 2nd day air ) through an off-record transaction—and I’d have to say it was worth it.
So, really, it doesn’t matter with who you’re dealing with, as long as they are honest. It is true, however, those with 0-feedback will get less bids and will usually end up knawing their shirts just to make a deal, if they’re honest, but provide enough pics, and try to get date-signatures on them. Don’t make up stories about your laptop in the description—go with the truth and provide as much detail as you can, and the reason why you’re selling it. If it’s believable, you might earn enough merit for consideration of your auction by potential bidders.
item will comes with manual, etc, but no original boxes. no scratches, nothing, no dead pixel, basically like new, even the battery is 1-2 cycles the most since i never use the battery. this baby is always at home, never been taken out.
if more pics are needed, please don’t hesitate to ask. thanks.
I still have the original box with all the stuff that came in it. However, I have over 100 charge cycles on the battery and no history on Ebay. I’ve got some old X-men and other marvel comics along with a ton of original Star Wars collectibles. I guess it would be a good opportunity to build a history with that.
gameson, good luck with your sale. Please let me know how you do. What are you buying next?
In addition to sony software, I installed Microsoft Office 2003 Professional free of charge. I won’t include the office CD cause it’s mine and I won’t make a copy of it cause of piracy issue. Right now, the OS is restored to like when it’s brand new, have all the sony programs, etc, Win XP Home. I prefer this way to maintain its NEW status, but I will go out of my way to accomodate the buyer if necessary.
i just check the battery and it still hold 47.73 xx (whatever the unit is).
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks.
still up for grabs, just in case people don’t notice…
i prefer sell it local san diego, then here, then ebay cause with this high price item, you got hit with the ebay fees. if i have to spend that much on the fees anyway, i would rather have u have my $$ than ebay.
This site looks bitter / sweet for you, gameson. The sweet part is that we all know the TR is the best thing going, so its an easy sale for us. The bitter part is that we all have TRs already. I suppose I may have similar difficulty when selling mine.

Your post got me wondering how prices on used TR’s hold up. Just checked Ebay and used TR2As have gone for just under $1400 to around $1550 in the last week or so.
I’ve got a TR3AP1 and there were no US listings for used. New generally 17-1800.
