You guys really need to head to your local hi-fi store. Not Best Buy, somewhere where they’ve actually heard the names B&W, McIntosh and Classe before. After you pick your jaw up off the floor you see why a $700 remote is not that big a deal. :D

I’ll pass.  Thanks.  Music will never influence my wallet like that.  There are too many other things in life to enjoy.  I got kids, man. :D

Most of my electronics are only in the upper levels of the “mid” range brands (Onkyo, Pioneer, dare I say it…Sony).  Drachen is absolutely right.  I spent over $2,000 on my receiver alone and that is CHEAP compared to the high-end.  I like to visit the high-end electronics stores and drool over the “GOOD STUFF”, but it just isn’t in the cards yet.  I have seen remote controls for more than $2,000 and actually felt that I was compromising with a $700 remote.  But it works great for me and my simple setup.

I wonder what happens when you drop it? I don’t know about you guys but I drop a remote at least once a week….

I have dropped my Philips TSU7000 on many occasions, from a height of about 3 or 4 feet onto both a padded rug and hardwood floors.  So far, no damage or operating issues…

A man after my own heart. I’ve got a similar-class reciever (Yamaha RX-V3000) biwired to B&W 600 Series 3 speakers (3 LCR600s and 2 601s). Caviar tastes with a pork chop budget. 

You know I can’t even tell the difference between a basic shelf stereo and a high end component system besides the fact that it gets louder.  In fact this is how I am with most electronics.  All I can say is that this remote is not for me because I don’t have anything fancy enough to use it with.  Heck my “top of the line” stereo (which I have hooked up as my computer speakers) is an old Sony shelf system that was probably discontinued before the turn of the century

To me there is not a huge difference in audio quality whether it is high-end or your average Sony receiver.  At least not enough difference for me to justify spending thousands.

Same..the only thing I am more picky with is my headphones…but even so, there is no way I would spend upward of $120 for them. If anything, for something that has noise-canceling, bluetooth, in-ear, and along with the bluetooth an option to plug in a regular wire for other things like plain old MP3 players: $150 as an absolute max.

What was Sony thinking with their Qualia series…  :shock:

I realize none of us will buy it, but it is absolute genius by Sony’s marketing department.  We have talked about this on a previous thread, but look what Lexus did for Toyota.  Bottom line is that there is always someone willing to pay huge money to say that they have the most expensive products.  It is a status thing for the very wealthy.
