[quote author=“somebody113”]I guess the 275 insurance plan that includes accidental damage is worth it but the one at Circuit City is 409.99 for a 4 year plan which includes absolutely NO accidental insurance, so if your TR decides seperate into two or more pieces, you’re outta luck. Just a quick bit of info for you guys. At Best Buy and Circuit City, on average, the protection plans they sell you are essentially 40% pure profit since most people won’t even use the warranty plan (my boss told me on the first day of work). Let’s be honest here, the computer department isn’t exactly where the companies cash in on. On an average 1000$ labtop, there’s maybe 50-60 dollars worth of markup and that little protection plan of theres boosts that markup 200-300%. I work at Circuit City right now and have absolutely no company loyalty simply because the stuff they try to sell you is straight up sh*t.
It’s exactly the same plan being sold by a number of chain retailers and online stores. Same thing in a retail outlet is $50 or more higher. I’ll have more info on the policy as it’ll be here tomorrow.
I generally agree that extended warantees are a joke. I’m getting this one because of the accidental coverage - this little box is going to be going a lot of places a computer prob. shouldn’t be.
Only other ext. warantee I’ve ever had was on a $2K Sony TV, they threw in a 7year warantee for $100 or some such. Damn thing is 10 years old and still going strong…
And, yes, CC sukkkks. The only time I’ll buy from them is when they’re giving something away.
