Don’t be so sure of that. One of the models announced was the P910a, which uses the US-specific 850/1800/1900 MHz frequencies. (for the pedantic, I know that 1800 MHz is not used in the US) They wouldn’t have announced it unless they had at least some interest from Cingular/AT&T.

Being a Cingular customer for some years now, I am looking forward to the increased selection of phones when that merger happens. I am so due for an upgrade. :D
If you want subsidized phones, be glad you’re not a T-Mobile customer. Their customer care kicks all kinds of ass, but their phone selection sucks. There’s never been a point at which I’ve wanted a phone they’ve had available. If the phone I wanted was ever available, I’d already gotten it at a better price months before it was on TMo.
Does anyone know for a fact the most common network(s) frequency(ies) in Japan? Just curious… expandability options… I like the p910a and if I can afford it or something like it, I would like to know what frequency Japan runs.
