Recently I have run into some weird behavior on my tr - i believe caused by an antivirus program that was expiring and kept trying to logon (when no connection available) and hanging up the system. :x I then uninstalled the antivirus program (btw, it was Panda antivirus) which caused serious hangups on my computer (error messages in spanish about extensions not available) and wouldn’t shutdown properly.
After some hard shutdowns, I lost all restore points (permanently it appears), and the device manager showed only the flashlight searching for devices! After several startups through msconfig, shutting down the remnants of the antivirus items in the Startup folder in msconfig, and finally removing all of the antivirus program, it seems most of the programs and devices are working now. But sadly the wireless connection is not working. :(
When I try to View Available Wireless Networks, I get only a greyed-out box - the only available action is to click Cancel. I cannot go to Advanced or Connect. I am guessing that some settings got changed.
In Device Manager, it shows that the wireless card is working properly. And the driver is the most current one.
I have also looked in Wireless Network Connection Properties, but I can’t tell what I need to do there. The only thing I noticed is that under the “This connection uses the following items”, all 4 boxes are checked, but the Internet Protocol item has Install highlighted and Uninstall greyed-out. Is this a problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated. I am always impressed by how many techie gurus are on this forum. Don’t fail me now!
