[quote author=“eyes on me”]I dont know much about computer except to download and chat. I used to have a gateway computer but its very old now. And now I have a G4 and kind of tired of it. I don’t really care about the size, I just want a notebook that I can play my sims for hours, download stuff, burn cd, watch dvd, and fast (is that asking too much?). I read that tr has many feature but is there any better notebook? Pls tell me your comments or opinion. Thank You.
Hi there, eyes on me.
From experience, Sony is still building its reputation with me, quality-wise. I’m very particular when it comes to quality of a product I’m considering and, if it were not for their unique innovative style, design and technology, I probably would not have bought another Sony computer. ( in fact, I only buy laptops with magnesium or aluminum ... or some kind of metal casing fitted with it—not that it’s stronger, but it just gives me some peace of mind ). Yeah, it’s true—I hated Sony only a few years back for their Playstation, until the Xbox came out, then I loved Sony more and hated Microsoft more. lol The thing is, if my parents never brought in that RX650 from Best Buy one night two years ago, then I would have never bought a Sony Vaio computer EVER.
The TR has been a great laptop so far, the past almost 2 months that I’ve had it, and I bought mine 2nd-hand ( yes, used—there’s no way I would have paid the full $2k for a new one. I’m still “evaluating” my TR, but right now, this cute little computer is the Apple of my eye!! It’s the one thing that keeps me smiling this entire summer—how else could I AIM this special girl named Elizabeth without it? 8)
I believe the style plays the biggest factor for the TR. The other factor is that it’s a Windows-based system. If you’re used to MACs, like dbs has mentioned, you might not like the sudden switch to the PC. I’ve tried Apples before ( in fact, at my college, we have G4s everywhere—the only place you can use a PC is if you own one, or you have to go to the Library at Bailey Hall—that bites! ). Apple is just not my “groove.” And I lost taste in their design since the Titanium.
The TR definitely has the portability ( although for me, I feel it can lose another pound and cut back on some dimensions without sacrificing power or features ..... what?!?!!! Just a suggestion!!! ). But it’s a great laptop that can cover all your needs that you’ve listed. If you have the money, buy it. That’s the only suggestion I can give you for your TR purchase. I had the money and I bought it—and I don’t regret it. If portability is not a key factor to you, or doesn’t play a significant role to you purchase, I would otherwise suggest buying a Compaq Presario X1000 series. I had the x1010us and it was the best laptop I’ve ever owned, performance-wise. Unfortunately, I favor portability over performance—but I’m always browsing around the markets for something new .... something good ..... something better.
-best,
Concura
