My Mom wanted a digital camera so I went to the store to see whats new. Circuit City had a nice Sony display so I went there first. She didn’t want to spend over $200 and I wouldn’t get her anything less then 3MP, even though its her first DigiCam.
I saw the DSC-P41. Its new to the market which is why I am posting this up. Anyway, it retails for $199 (Circuit City had a $25 Gift Card this weekend, so its only $175)...its 4.1MP and comes with a 16MB MS. 3x Digital Zoom, 1.5” LCD, viewfinder, Audio in Movies, and Burst Shots. Not bad for a 4.1MP and for $175~$199.
Bought it on the spot and brought it home. Its nice and compact (not as small as my U20 or T1) and feels sturdy even though its plastic, not metal. When the camera is off, the lense as a small shield to protect it (another important feature for my Mom).
It has the same type of menu system as the rest of the Sony’s but this thing takes pics so quickly its amazing. There is virtually no lag between hitting the button and when it takes the pics, I was amazed. It seems quicker then my T1 which was twice the price. I think the picture quality is great as well.
Bottom line, if you need a better Digital Camera then your old 2MP and don’t want to spend a lot, this is a great camera. Paired with your own rechargable AAs and some bigger Memory Sticks, you have a great camera.
Thanks,
Erik
