How can you keep IE’s text size stay at the “Smallest” setting? By default it is set to “Medium,” but I would prefer it to stay at the “Smallest” setting. If IE is the only running program on my computer, it stays at “Smallest” with no problems at all. The second I open up Microsoft Outlook it automatically goes back to the defaul “Medium” setting in IE. This happens on any computer I use and I’m running IE 6.0 on them. Any thoughts or comments are much appreciated. Thanks!
View->Text Size allows u to change the setting, but I dont know if it will keep it like that always. You might need to set it again and again when u use outlook.

You are pretty hard-core leaving your text at smallest on the already small TR screen!
I have noticed that on many websites nowadays that the text size setting doesn’t make as big of a difference. This is it won’t override the text size settings in a stylesheet, which many, if not most, websites use.
There is an option in IE for overriding the style settings of webpages. It’s under Tools - Internet Options - General - Accessibility. I used this for a bit on the TR but found that it fairly annoying in the way that it would mess up the layout of most webpages, so I turned it back off. Always a useful thing to know of tho
After reading this thread I am also interested in decreasing my font size to allow more view space when surfing. I am not bold enough to go to ‘smallest’, but one step below medium would be great. I use Outlook often as well. Thanks for the tip, Mighty Matt.
Damn, I meant to say “Smaller” and not “Smallest.”
I do know how to change that setting, but for whatever reason Outlook changes it right back to the defaul of “Medium.” I’m just trying to find a way so that it DOESN’T change back to the default text size.
For a minute there I thought you had some super-vision. I have to really strain on the smallest setting with some websites. I was beginning to worry if the TR was messing with my 20/20.

Just done some research about this quirk and it would appear to originate from the fact that OE uses the same print engine as IE and so resets the font size (as noted!)
I found this after a google search
Since moving to Outlook, the Text Size in Internet Explorer sometimes spontaneously changes.
If you have changed the Text Size in IE to something other than the default (medium), you may notice that the Text Size may spontaneously change. To resolve this problem:
In Outlook, Select Tools | Options and click on the Mail Format tab.
Under “Stationery and Fonts”, click Fonts and then click International Fonts.
Select the font size that you want to use in IE, click Set as Default, and then click OK 3 times.
The Text Size should no longer revert to the former default (medium) in Internet Explorer.
Don’t know if that’ll help as it looks like you’ll have to live with a smaller text size in OE as well, but it seemed the only solution I could find…
I have now made the change based on what you wrote up, and I will let everyone know if this does in fact solve the problem. Thank you so much for researching this for me. :D

[quote author=“Anonymous”][quote author=“dustrho”]Mighty Matt, your suggestion WORKED! Thank you soooooo much for find that information for me! :D
After using IE after changing Outlook’s seetings per Mighty Matt’s request, my IE text has remained the same without changing back to the default “Medium” size! I’ve shared this information with some friends and guys at work, and they’re just as happy as I am.
Thanks again! :D
I wouldn’t have said my request… more just my suggestion thanks to random webpage
