Hi folks, ‘been lurking about 2 weeks now and wanted to thank you all for the great posts. You finished convincing me and I have a TR3AP1, a $99 Kingston memory upgrade, 1Gb Memory Stick, SI-5 portable speakers, Logitec cordless optical mouse and Waterford slipcase on the way. Other than the faint smell of burning plastic from my credit card, I’m a happy camper. :D
QUESTION: I’m planning on purchasing an 802.11g router/switch/wap for a new DSL connection. I’m looking at the Linksys WRT54G as my ISP supports the Linksys 802.11b equivilent. http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=601
I’d appreciate feedback on the Linksys unit and any suggestions regarding other units which may work better with the TR3.
Thanks, again, for your informative posts.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies and the welcome Rahul, link. Looks like the Linksys is 2 for 2.
Barring any negetive food-for-thought, ‘guess I need to be looking for a buy.com $10 off coupon. Between that and a $10 rebate I can pick the puppy up for $49.99. Anyone know if I can beat that anywhere?

buy.com don’t exactly have the highest feedbacks. check out their rating or reviews before you place that order..

Hi linc. I tend to agree, but always consider them as an option. Thru the years I’ve puchased from them quite a few times and they’ve always delivered reliably. It usually just takes them 2-4 days longer to deliver and I can usually beat their price elsewhere. However, on occasion, with an e-coupon, free shipping and (in this case) a rebate I’ve gotten some good deals. Waiting for them to ship just builds character, since I’m an instant gratification kinda guy. 8)

I’ve had the earlier 802.11b varient since it was released about two years ago and I can count the number of times I’ve had to powercycle it on the fingers of one hand.
Robust & reliable are the keywords for me, very impressed….and hey, it *looks* like a router, with all those lovely flashing lights on the front :D

Flashing lights are important. When I got my first internal modem about six years ago, I went thru withdrawal. My first modem, purchased in the mid 80’s, was a blindingly fast 300 baud. Sometimes needed the lights just to know anything was going on.

I too have had problems with buy.com and had nearly stopped shopping with them since I lost out on a rebate thanks to them (but they refunded me the amount of the rebate) but now I shop again with them.

dbs, I have a Linsys WRT54GS that I will sell you for the same price. It has the new SpeedBooster technology. I payed $110 for it when it first came out. I opened it up, but never connected it. If interested, send me an e-mail or PM. I’ll even pay the shipping. I’m basically so lazy that I did not return it in time to get a refund. So it is just sitting on my desk. I went with a completely different setup.
I’m sure the folks here would vouch for my character (whatever that means to you). I just need to get rid of this thing. Let me know. :D

Gee…..thanks, Rahul.
Did I mention MY router still has the full manufactures warranty? How about SpeedBooster technology? I have never used E-Bay before and I have no time to start now. I would much rather sell this thing to a forum member and be done with it. It is a good deal for you and it helps me to make more room on my desk. :D
.......and pay no heed to those phony deals Rahul pushes. (just kidding)

That warranty is non-transferable and only applies to the original purchaser. :|

I never sent in the registration card. Does that matter? Oh well, I tried.
Could I act on dbs’s behalf as a proxy if it needed service during the warranty period? I would be willing to do that as well.

Rahul, I was just teasing. :D
The most important thing is that dbs makes an educated decision and is ultimately happy with his/her purchase. I know you were just trying to help out.
Off Topic - Hey gr00vy, do you have plans to implement features to the site that let us know whether someone is a guy or girl? That would help for the post I just made here.
Just wondering since it was fresh on my mind.
