Well, I have seen this on my TR1MP. I first seen it after installing a trial version of AquariusSoft’s Alarm clock. This program plays sounds and music at specified times and is capable of waking the computer out of hibernation or standby to play the sound. After playing the sound it can then be sent automatically back into hibernation or standby. And sometimes when I powered on after this program had sent it into hibernation it would hibernate again immediately as described above. Turning it on again and it would start OK.
I’ve uninstalled this now and I think I’ve seen it once since but that may have been a low battery situation. I’ll keep an eye out for it again. Though I must say it is only very occasionally and I use hibernate all the time.
One thought that springs to mind is that do you always go into hibernate the same way and does it always behave the same. Try doing it through Fn+F12, closing lid whilst using batteries, hibernating via Shut Down option on Start menu. And see if it is the same for each method.
