[quote author=“gr00vy0ne”]Jiggy is indeed a moderator…well, he’s in one of the moderator groups. That was set up way back in this site’s infancy. Jiggy is one of two original Sony TR World members that encouraged me to create this site. I was playing around with the idea of having some moderators on this site to help me keep track of stuff and Jiggy requested to be a moderator. So, he’s still in the moderator group although I’m pretty sure he’s not sure exactly what that entails.
Heck, I don’t even know what that entails.
At any rate, now that the site has grown organically and is of a decent size, I would like to start inviting people to become moderators. I’ll probably post something official once I finish moving the server so be on the look out for it.
I think the basic idea of extra moderators is to help keep topics on track (although we generally do fine in this regard), lock dead discusssions, start new discussions, delete bad or inappropriate topics, and move irrelevant topics. Ideally, I want to start with one person (in addition to myself) in charge of each section although I’m not opposed to a small group in charge of any one section. Also, if it makes sense, some people may be in charge of more than one category. I think we can work this out. So…we’ll discuss this more…probably in a new thread soon with instructions on how we’ll do this. :D
I understand what you mean. If Groovy asks a few people to help out, just in basic maters of closing redundant posts, etc, he will have more time to do other things. The idea of doing it now, when the site is just growing, is the best time so the new mods know what to do when the site explodes.
Although we’ve seen a huge growth spurt recently, I don’t think the bulk of it is over and I expect to continue to see many more people joining, especially during the summer and begining of school which is the second highest notebook selling point (behind christmas).
I think Groovy has done an amazing job on the site so far, but one person can’t dedicate all his time to something like a non-profit forum.
