Just wanted to let eveyone know in case they didnt know it you can buy 1,2 or 3 Year / onsite / 24x7 support / Accidental Damage Protection warranty (which is aweome just in case you drop a latte  in your beloved machine….your protected!
i bought my computer from sony but bought the warranty at CDW it doesnt matter.
Do you need a “reason” for them to sell you it for $275? For instance, if I call and order this and say, “oh, I heard that this is supposed to be selling for $275” will they say “ok, no problem”?
Thanks for this great info! I’ve never had any problems on any of my 4 notebooks but “you never know”...and peace of mind is a good thing. Plus, I’d be crazy unhappy if anything happened to my screen.

i agree the computer i bet it will be fine but a little spill or fall and sorry charlie! i hear you on the screen i know how much would that set you back to get a new one? $2000?
i have a simular insurance plan from CompUSA at the same price, where i purchased my sony tr1a, but it’s not onsite. ya have to bring it in. it is international however, and supposidly i can mail to my nearest sony dealer and get service, but i have to pay shipping (i think). the good thing is i know it works, as after having the tr1a for less than a week, i closed the lid ontop of my earbuds and cracked the screen. CompUsa grudgingly took the unit back and gave me a new one, with the service manager mumbling something about having to eat the cost of the screen. still, the warrenty saved my butt.
I am thinking of buying a tr2 directly from sony. How do i go about getting the service plam from CDW. Do I just tell the sony guy or do I have to contact CDW before I order?
you have to 100% order it through cdw (its a sony product that sony doesnt even sell….strange) but it is a legit service plan that cdw sells. it lists for $315 but a nice woman Kate at cdw sold it to me for $275 plus shipping.
Hi. I followed the link and it says that this service can’t be sold in several states including the one I’m in (NC) ... is there any other options? I just got the TR2AP3 from SONY and with a service-plan I don’t think I’ll be able to keep it ....
i just ordered the tr2ap3 from sony. i ordered by phone and they didnt even mention and extended warranty. do i have the option to get some type of extended coverage thru sony? and what is the standard manufactures warranty thru sony?, is it a year?
I ordered two TR2AP3s from CDW on 12/23/03 w/ 2 year accidental coverage warranties. They were due to arrive before 1/1/04.
The warranties came right away. After many “it will ship tomorrows” from my sales rep; CDW now states according to Sony, they will be able to ship 1/17/04. They are backordered.
The warranty from CDW is good no matter who you buy it from. I inquired. Not sure if it’s worth going anywhere else or if anyone else has them in stock for $2425 ea (they did offer a better price if I bought 3, but I only needed two).
[quote author=“invisiblefly”]how many days i got to buy an extended warranty from cdw if my tr shipped on 1/07/04. in other word, how many day i can wait to buy the warranty.
You can buy the warranty as long as your product is still under warranty. So, essentially, you have 1 year to buy an extended warranty. However, the accidental extended warranty covers extra types of problems (i.e. actual accidents) on top of the basic hardware failure warranty.
So, you should buy the accidental warranty right away if you want complete coverage of your notebook.
