Does anyone think thats its a wise idea to have my TR5 in the semi hard case in a backpack and then jog for 15-20mins. Will this cause some kind of fault, maybe HDD failure etc. Will this be a dumb thing to do?
oh crap, that was me above twice! sorry gruv, i am testing new opera 7.51 and one pain about that is u have to input all your fori loggins again and if u dont, well, u see what happens with dodos like me…can u delete one of them? thanks.

Sounds like you’re begging for a hard drive failure.
[quote author=“Rahul”]ur a mod, u could always delete those 2 posts
i dont think that’s true. i dont’ think gruv would be silly enough to give me that power. well, at least there are no edit buttons by anyone but mine. would i go pshyco some night and delete all the posts? or better, insert my advertisements for hand-made nepali pet products in every single post? no, gruv knows better. he’s a really smart guy. :D
In the general sense, it’s not a good idea. That being said, the notebook drive should be able to take more shock then a standard drive. That being said, it’s still not suggested.
Jogging and walking are different. The steady and constant shock and the force of the shock can’t be good. IF you decide to do it, please keep the PC off. Dont try and use it as an Mp3 player or something like that, then your really asking for it.

Back up often…good luck,
Erik
well i think this is total crap. ive used the Tr as an MP3 player while in a messenger bag -the ipod battery was dead - and drove from Chitwan to KTM over Damen pass on a motorbike. it’s true, the TR1 drive finally died a horrible death on Everest, but i doubt those kinds of rides had anything todo with it. but hard drives crash, its thier nature. like erik says, backup often, but live a little!

Yes, HDs crash, but seriously, you don’t think anything you did helped trigger it? HDs are somewhat fragile components…making one fail is not a difficult task…I can’t see jogging with a running TR will do anything but shorten the life of the drive.
well u may be right erk, who’s to know? i dont thing the original poster said anything about having it on while jogging. i wonder if standby mode locks the drive heads at least? i do that a lot too, as i’ve disabled hibernate to save the gig of disk space…every one counts when u only have 40 eh :D
