You’d think with all the hackers and crackers out there that someone could make an app that would allow the sony bluetooth memory stick work with windows - or Linux 8) .
A clie is sort of just a computer right? so if it runs an OS then it shoudln’t be ahrd for someone to work this out you’d think.
Not me of course as i know jack about such things, but i tell ya, if i wasn’t so busy i’d commision someone to write me such an app as i reckon there’d be a huge market. Look at all the sony notebooks that have a memory card slot but no bluetooth!
:D

Its possible, just nobody found a significant need to. Now that the BT MS is no longer being produced there is even a smaller chance that someone would undertake what is needed to use the stick in a PC.
I got my BT Memory Stick a while ago (for my older NX60), before they were discontinued. I had to get it in Japan as they weren’t “available” in the US. I get the feeling that those of us in the US just can’t handle BT (as far as Sony is concerned). I was surprised to see them finally install BT in the latest incarnations of the Z1. Maybe they are testing the waters. I also had to get a UK version of my latest Clie in order to have internal BT. It will be nice when we are deemed responsible enough or knowledgeable enough or tech savvy enough to understand and use BT in the US.

Did you ever plug it into your TR? I searched everywhere for drivers and found none for windows. I even contacted a developer but they said it might cost $5K to $10K US to make drivers :(
I have even downloaded a palm OS hardware emulator so if i ever get my hands on a bluetooth MS i can test it via that.
I have one too and have plugged it into my TR and any other Memory Stick slot I could find and it simply doesn’t work. It’s not recognized at all (even as an unknown device). As far as the memory stick slot knows, there’s nothing plugged in.
At any rate, I don’t think it’s worth spending time on since there’s no drivers for it and even if you did find drivers for it you might be stuck with bad software for it or poor profile support.
This is one of those products that was poorly supported even when it was being made and not worth the effort…even for hackers. If the hardware was really good or there was something compelling about it then maybe there might be some support. So, it’s simply not worth anyone’s time.

I did get it to work on my NX60. I will look around and see if I still have any info on the drivers for my Clie. I used it to sync every now and then and it worked fine. I don’t have the NX60 any longer but I might have the software for the BT Memory Stick. I will let you know when I get back to the US (home). It won’t be until after the 4th of July though. Sorry for the delay but I won’t forget to look. I am now using a TH55 (UK version) which has BT installed already.
