Well now that i have bought 5 items from ebay, (successfully) I just wanted to say I can’t think of anywhere else on the net to buy anything. Having a worldwide shop front it is amazing and if you have the patience to wait and bid the deals can’t be equalised. I haver just bought a Canon Digital rebel for £300 cheaper than here in the uk! If you haven’t tried it out there go ahead give it a go!

Shhh!! It’s a secret! How do you think I got my TR3A for only $1,300 US including shipping UPS 2nd Day air?  :O

But, yes, ebay is a great place to shop ... when you know some trusty sources.

watch out tho because it can be addictive… last night, after coming home from work at 23.30 I was just browsing around and ended up buying a DSC-T1 :shock: .  Not sure why as I’m still paying off the T2 but oh well!!

i agree..ebay can be HIGHLY addictive..

definitely not for me…I have bought just 1 item on it…was a terrible experience and vowed never to buy ne thing more…

:oops: actually I did try buying 1 more item, but the description said brandnew factory sealed so thats why I bid for it…finally lost the auction…and was happy that I did lose.

But seriously, my uncle had bought a few US robotics modems (froma few different sellers) around 18 months ago and some of them came brandnew as promised, but 1 of them was used and didn’t even work. Then later on he bought a handdryer and that too didn’t function properly…made too much noise and/or wouldnt stop only.

eBay is just a place where buyers and sellers meet to conduct transactions. To be fair, the blame of any bad experiences shouldn’t rest on the shoulders of the company. Based on my experience as both a buyer and a seller, eBay is a very efficient marketplace. Instead of writing off shopping at eBay as an option, one should be more careful when picking sellers. From what I have seen, a lot of people choose to buy an item from whoever is offering the lowest price, disregarding the feedback rating of the seller. For me, I would rather pay more for a product from a reliable seller even though it might mean that I am paying more. I would rather have peace of mind rather than losing sleep over some money saved. Just my 2 cents.

As far as my buying experience goes, the seller I bought from had a rating of 98% or so with over 3000 feedbacks. When I sent him an email asking howmuch charge the battery held, he said the battery held a full charge and when I tried it on my laptop (after fully charging it) my laptop didn’t stay on for even 10 mins.

I contacted them and sent back the battery…after getting no response from them after about 12 days from the day they received it back, I contacted them several times via email but got no response. Finally I called them up several times and was told they’ll contact me, but got no calls from them. I was very upset but finally received my cheque. However, they gave me back only the price of the item..no shipping charges that I paid them or the return shipping charges that I bore for shipping the item back…this is how bad my experience was :x

I bought my first Vaio the GRT896SP from Ebay brand new and for roughly £300 cheaper then on other e-tailers.  I then bought a TR5 just last week for £1600 from ebuyer and just a couple of days ago found someone selling the TR5 brand new on Ebay for £1400 :cry: .  There is that risk of fraud etc, but I tend to look at the persons feedback and see how many transactions they have made.  So far Ebay has been nothing but good for me :D

yeah, and that learning curve could be pretty long! i also think ebay is a great place to shop if u want to shop for hours on end looking at overpriced and outdated hardware products only to be outbid on something u think is a good deal, and then when u do win a bid, only to be disappointed by some shylock dealer that can’t afford a real e-commerce website.  well, that’s just one user’s comment who seems to be in the minority, as usual.
