Hi all, I don’t have a service manual with me and I have trouble locating a part. If anyone has a service/parts manual with them, I would appreciate if you can give me any leads on this. Well, as I was completing the bluetooth and wifi upgrade to my comp and putting everything back together, I found out that a white plastic part covering one of the screws was nowhere to be found. Can I order something like this from Sony?

Normally, I wouldn’t care whether I have that plastic part or not. However, my keyboard is wobbly without the support of that cover. Therefore, I am in desperate need to locate that part.

Wow dude - You’re not having a good time with your upgrade… I’ve seen posts from you on a stripped screw, ribbon cable problems and now this!?

A tr1 manual is available here: <edit> link removed - no longer valid </edit> or you can order it with the part-number 9-876-319-01 from sony.

Haha yeah, it has been a rough upgrade for me. I’ve been tinkering around with computers for a while now, but luck just hasn’t been with me this time around. Nevertheless, all things are working like they are supposed to now, with the coveted blue light and G wireless.

The link does not seem to be working, Lumpydog. It says that there is no such group on Yahoo?

The Yahoo group was closed a bit ago…maybe someone has it and is willing to upload it to a new server.

yeah, it’s all on the “to-do” list…but first i need to do the server move which is taking longer than i planned. trying to make it as seamless as possible. once the new server is up then i’ll be able to get more stuff done. i just know that if i don’t move it in the next two weeks i’ll probably go over my allocated bandwidth again based on my projections and all the new traffic we’re getting.

This is weird, but I don’t recall removing a plug to access that screw when I did my upgrade…are you sure you had one to start with?

Yeah, I’m not exactly sure what plastic part he was referring to either. From what I know, there isn’t any part that goes there. The screw is directly accessible.

That picture is playing a trick on your eyes - that a hole, not a plastic cap.

Reseat your keyboard and check to make sure everything was replaced properly.

Oops.. it turns out that it was my mistake. The problem was that I didn’t screw on the keyboard tightly enough. I thought that the keyboard was supported by a plastic part when I encountered the problem and looked through Gr00vy’s pictures. The part, of course, didn’t exist as confirmed by many of you and the service manual.

In case Gr00vy needs to update the server and move things around, an alternate copy of the TR service manual with part numbers is being hosted here .
