After having bad experiences with single write DVD-R, I went for DVD-RW, if the burn crashes you just format the DVD and start again. In the end it worked out cheaper for me, and also they play on most domestic DVD players.
It’s 2 ways of doing the same thing, I thinks it’s kinda like Beta & VHS, except one writes with a positive image and one with a negative. DVD-RW is supported by most home DVD players, where DVD+R is not (or was not).
If the TR5 uses the same dvd writer as the TR3AP3 (i.e. matshita UJ-12??)then the specification page (groovy had given me the link) does say that it can write to DVD-RAM discs as well.
However, Nero 6 Ultra edition did not have a check mark for DVD-RAM discs under the write section.
