This forum persuaded me to get the TR, finally a forum where you get reliable answers quickly. Even on Sundays.

Just wanted to see if I would move on from the Embryo…...

I now know someone else who has just bought a TR from the States. I never new they existed until a couple of moths ago. It seams that as soon as people get to look at a TR in action they want one. Sony should do more to promote them. I am sure there would be more people going for Tr’s that way.

It is for that same reason that they need to bring the new U70 here as well.  I think if they promoted it, the sales would do very well.  We live in such a cosmopolitan society that many will want it just for the coolness factor alone.  Thats why you see Hummers everywhere.  Do you think that many people go offroading? :shock:

I am still skeptical of that. The U70 is way overpriced (even by Sony standards) to become a common item. It’s got a form factor, input method and battery life ony an enthusiast could enjoy. Computers aren’t nearly as cachet an item as a car would be anyway. (When’s the last time you saw a non-geek bragging about a large monitor or a fast CPU to another non-geek?)

The U70 will follow the Tablet PC - and in due time the stand-alone PDA - to that same lonely place where the Audry and the NC went to die.

I agree with Drachen.

On the other note, Sony does a ton of TR ads near me, I see it everywhere including TV spots.

Congrats on the great site growth, as a side note I noticed the Yahoo! TR group isn’t working anymore. I wonder if something’s wrong with on Yahoo’s end or if the group closed up. Great resource here though! 

Yahoo is going through a ton of upgrades, it might just be a temp. glitch.

Drachen, I think you may be a little harsh here.  I’m sure I am not the only one who welcomes this form factor.  Give it time…as the form factor catches on, the price will drop.  10-15 years from now, everyone will carry a handheld gadget that is instant on, Win XP or better OS, a cell phone, GPS, full contact management features, an MP3 / video player, and be wireless at OC3 speeds.  Over 20 years from now, as these gadgets get smaller and smaller, we will all have wireless earbuds, use our voice in place of a keyboard, and have wirless contact lenses which would enable us to forego monitors altogether.

Now, I’m no George Orwell.  This all may sound a bit far fetched, but look where we were just 20-25 years ago.  If you really think about this and follow your thoughts to completion, it may not be so crazy after all.
