I don’t know if this subject has already being discuss. If yes sorry for asking again.

I have just bought my TR2MP two months ago, and I am really happy with this laptop.

In fact, I used a typical heavy big laptop for three years, which has almost break my shoulder each time i carry it. So, now with the TR, I am relief by his incredible mobility.

The things I really like the most is the fact, that when you use it, you have the feeling, that for the first time, engineers have think a bit about all the features of the machine, and I really enjoy this.  :D

Now, my question is what do you think should be the best companion for the TR laptop.

At that time, I have a Palm Tungsten C and a Sony P800. The thing is that I like the bluetooth aspect of P800, but i can’t think about using Symbian Os for my pda uses, maybe I am too much addicted to Palm Os.  Regarding, my Palm Tungsten C, I like the device by itself, but the features are not helpful for me, I mean, each time I would have to use wifi, i can use my TR, so the wifi functionality is not important anymore. It’s been sometimes that I am looking at some reviews and discussion on the net, I didn’t manage to make my mind on the best handheld and phone to use with my TR.

So, if people can share their experiences and advises on the subject it should be really great.

Basically, the functionality I am interesting :

- Having my contacts on my phone synchronize with Outlook

- Bluetooth for both phone and pda

- Integrated Keyboard

furgettaboutit! u have enough, what do u need a companion for?  seriously, i asked myself the same question, but came up with the answer: why buy anything else.  i sync my phone with the tr for contacts, dates, notes, etc. and i even have a sync going to the ipod.  i am never without one of those, even on the toilet, so there ya have it.

i tend to agree with jiggy on this one.

i was thinking of getting the clie ux-50, but decided against it after checking out the tr5.

if you really need a pda and like the palm o/s, you should get the ux-50. it has wi-fi and memory stick capabilities. but beware…since sony is discontinuing the clie line in the u.s., you may not get good service in a year or two. then, i’d consider the tungsten 3 made by palmone.

the ux-50 also has bluetooth as well.

i got the ux50 before i got the tr. i find my self using the ux-50 less and less ever since i brought the tr.. :?

i got a really nice soney peg t665c that i am planning to e-bay next month when i get to america!  10% off to any TR owner. all the trimmins - keyboards, chargers, etc..

I had same thought and got strong temptations whenever the new model comes out. However I realized my TR is already a almost handheld.

I don’t know about the “best comanion”, but I use my T and my Dell Axim PDA. They really are different machines.

If I get up from my desk, I’ll leave the “T” behind. But the PDA is always in my pociet. If I have a hallway meeting, I can take a note or set an appointment. If I lose track of time, my PDA will remind me of the next meeting.

There is another difference. Even if you suspend the T, the PDA turns on faster. Of course, if you hibernate or shut down, there is no contest. Not fair you say? I would agree, if the T could go a week without a charge. But it can’t.

One last difference, the PDA can be used standing up. You don’t need a lap.

Sounds like you should look at the Treo 650, iPAQ h6315, XDA III/i-Mate PDA2K or (if you wait a few months) the Motorola MPX. The last three run Windows Mobile, but all will satisfy the three conditions above.
