okay..i think this has been discussed before but never resolved. my memory stick slot is not recognized by windows. i tried everything.. uninstalling/installing the ms driver but windows keeps either says device can not start or sees it as an unknown device. i thought it might of been the windows hotfix updates but it wasn’t. i used the recovery discs to retore the tr back to its factory settings. the ms slot would work while the recovery wizard retores the applications but as soon it it completes the retore, restarts and boots…it either sees it as an unknown device or you can see the drive but you can read any memory sticks..perhaps its a faulty ms slot.. wrote the sony support but never got a response yet.. probably going to end up purchasing a pcmcia ms reader/writer but i REALLY would prefer a 100% working tr.
have u checked in hardware: device manager: sony MSC-U04 usb device: driver that i have working is v5.1.2535.0
if u can see that and it stil not working maybe the stick is bad; have u tried another? if u cant see it, then it’s never gunna work and maybe there is some other usb driver mucking up the works. good luck!
the weird thing is, it works sometimes all of a sudden. lets say i uninstalled the driver and then reboots, windows sometimes will recognize it. i have tried other memory sticks as well. the device is named sony memory stick reader/writer with the version 1.0.0.1 ? Is there two different drivers?? just restored the tr for the 5th time today..it is working now but i doubt it but hope it’ll last.
okay now i feel like a retard.. it turned out i been plugging in my canon mp390 without installing the driver first. don’t know exactly how that has to do with my ms slot but when i try install the driver before i plug in the mp390, the ms slot works again! sigh..i’m just glad it works now. thanks jiggy
its a good thing because i wouldn’t know how to explain all the extra oem components from other verions of tr showed up on mine when i do have to send it in.
