I just got my new TR2MP yesterday, and I found a problem when I try to connect my SonyEricsson P900 via my TR2MP integrated Bluetooth using the provided BlueSpace NE (Version 3.3.00.10140). The connection can be established, I can send files, I can pair the P900 with TR with no problem,  BUT when I click connect via Serial port, eventhough it shows it is connected but the PC Suite (Phone Connection Link) just failed to see my phone is in fact connected, i.e. I can’t establish a Serial connection via Bluetooth and I can’t sync the P900 with Outlook! If I can’t sync my P900 with the TR via Bluetooth, that means it definitely defeat my purpose of having both of them! It was just driving me crazy!

Well, after a real hard work last night, I have finally found out the solution to ‘fix’ this problem! Perhaps there might already have solution listed in this forum which I couldn’t find (if so, sorry for listing it again). Anyway I just like to share my simple solution again with those who miss the thread and need it. Hope this will help!  :D

Trick:
Well, you might be able to get the Serial connection established for the first time, but you might failed to reconnect again after you have disconnected it. The trick is simple, you have to completely shut down/exit BlueSpane NE and re-launch it again in order to get the Serial connection work again! It is working every time for my P900 and TR since I found out this trick!  :D

Note: Of course, if you haven’t already done so, before you make any connection, it is necessary to go to Control Panel ->Phone Monitor Option -> at COM Ports tab, Enable the COM4.

If I’m not wrong, I have the latest version of BlueSpace NE shipped with my TR2MP (Version 3.3.00.10140). I don’t know if someone here have other version of BlueSpace that doesn’t have this problem?  :?:

I seem to be able to connect only once per BlueSpace install. :? Even closing down BS (fitting acronym) and rebooting doesn’t help. I’m using the same version of BS you are, but I have the external Sony BT dongle.

Well I have another way, it is a little buggy though isn’t it :(

I go to the phone options for the PC Suite where you tick on the COM4 and I have a COM500 for Bluetooth too (Not sure why that is), it’ll connect on one or the other, it’s quite random. If I tick them both off, OK and then tick them both back on OK. It’ll connect fine next time.

A bit of a pain but seeing as that is sitting in the tray it’s only a few mouse clicks and then it’s paired OK.

In fact, I don’t get the connection ‘everytime’ I try to connect…I would have to take 1 or 2 times to get it connected….strange strange…  :wink:  It is interesting to see different people have different ‘solution’ on it though…

Hmmmm…the software is quite buggy isn’t it…so surprise and quite disappointed to see eventhough both devices are made by Sony, well, one is SonyEricsson, they seem not talking to each other so well….sigh… :? Even the integrated Bluetooth…

I hope Sony will release a patch for BlueSpace soon to fix this BIG bug…

I think Sony’s real goal was to get it working with the Clie line of handhelds. Considering the difficulties others have had getting BlueSpace to work with PPCs, I don’t hold much hope for perfect operation with the P900. Remember that SE is a joint venture, and if anything is still really operated by what used to be Ericsson. Sony just gives them money, industrial designers and a bunch of technical guidelines (eg. Memory Stick Duo cards).

Actually I read quite a bit on P900 forums, this isn’t a Bluespace problem. You’d have a similar problem using other bluetooth dongles with other stacks. It’s a PC Suite problem, this isn’t actually written by Sony Erricson either but UIQ, the people that make the OS for the phone. Hence why the problems.

Infact I had a P800 when they hit first and just getting the USB docking station to work was a feat and a half, forget bluetooth. The USB dock now works perfectly and bluetooth at least works. So I’m thankful for that, I do hope it gets fixed soonish though but I can live with it as it is now.

I have no doubt that the UIQ software is at least partly - or even mostly - at fault, but there’s something else malfunctioning. Last night I was able to get the P900 to connect through the method you described above and tried to disconnect the serial connection with BS. It said it did, but the BT indicator on the P900 screen was still in “connection active” mode. I was still able to surf around inside the P900 via explorer even though BS has said it terminated the serial connection and I had closed BS (terminated the program, not just closed).

I am a bit relief, I am not the only one to get this annoying problem.

I have just bought the P800 some days ago, and I was really annoyed to have to plug the usb for using the synchronisation. :(

I hope sony will do something to correct this really painful problem.

What is the point to have integrated bluetooth in both laptop and phone, and have to use the usb connection :(

For those of you that have a UK TR2MP, something else you might want to try when using bluetooth.

I get the “wiggly” connection line showing most times when I connect but not the P900 icon which is when the link has been established (sometimes I don’t even get the “wiggly” line). I have Norton Internet Security 2004 installed as supplied with the TR2MP and find that if I disable the firewall I then get a connection no problem & can immediatley set the firewall back on again. Not found out why or how to configure the Firewall to not block the mrouter connection of the P900.

I find I can reconnect without switching off by disabling the Firewall.

That’s true, that disabling norton internet security is better for making the connection working. Thanks for the tip.

By the way i have found a good tip to make the synchronisation work better. I remove the auto launch of the phone monitor from the startup directory. So, it is not launch when windows start.

After this, what i do, is first i connect the phone to the computer using bluetooth, i launch also the serial connection, and after i launch the phone monitor program, which will detect the connection and start to connect to the phone. I find that proceeding this way seems to work better than having the program launched and create the connection after.

But the program make by sony ericsson for managing phone seems to be a good crap, as well as the bluespace program. For instance, when i hibernate my tr2mp after doing a connection to the phone(disable it before hibernate), and switch on again the laptop, i come back to windows with an error message from bluespace which crash by the way.

Anyway, the good point is that i almost manage to synchronize the phone properly now. 

ever since i did this all my bluetooth phone problems went away, and i have a cheap 20$ dongle that came with no driver support….

1. uninstall all the Blue crap that does not work
2. install BlueSoliel from IVT http://www.ivtcorporation.com/ and during the install process put in your dongle when prompted.
3.enable the com ports in the inteface.
4. turn on your phone.
5. go wild, everything will work.

Tested on T610 and all the sony/eric crap software…but the XTND connect works great with Outlook XP!
