Thanks for the pics linc. I just finished installing my lens. Looks GOOOD! I found a slight difference in my installation. The small, black plastic pieces that you referenced were white on my TR3 and they remained attached to the frame instead of remaining on the old lens. Another possibility is that the pieces were black on the side that remained stuck to the frame and white on the side facing the lens. Either way, I didn’t have to remove/re-attach them. Other than that it installed just like you described. Next…
[quote author=“jetguy”]If this lens simply peels off, do we really need to disassemble the TR to remove it?
The angle on the small “hooks” would seem to require removing the cover. You might be able to force the lens off but I wouldn’t want to try. You also need to engage the “hooks” on the new lens. You might also describe the hooks as tabs. They engage into small slots in/under the cover.
Well, I did the swap. Took about 37 seconds without removing the cover.
I used a Swiss Army Knife…started at the top and pryed outward, very slowly. It came right off. I put the black tabs back, and then installed the new cover.
To remove, pull lense toward you, away from the TR, level (dont pull up or down, straight toward you) this way you dont break the clips.
It “should”. If you read the review, I found the Bluetooth part under the Sony Z1 spare parts list. However, this is not confirmed on all Z1s. As almost no one here has a Z1 this can’t be confirmed.
