[quote author=“Anonymous”]the keyboard is unusuable? gimme a break, dont expect to type on a thumb board they same speed you can on a keyboard. the processor is ok for now (for it’s main purpose). the rumors are the next revision will include the Efficeon or P-M.
Seriously, this isn’t a PPC or Palm, a keyboard is needed for almost everything on an XP machine…what exactly do you plan on using this for if you can’t type?

Erik
If a keyboard is needed for everything on XP - then what about Sony’s new UX50 and 70? Is this backing up what i said about the fact you’d have to carry it’s fold up usb board everywhere therefore making it not a 600gram machine but actually a 1KG machine? I’m not having a go at you Erik, i am just saying that the fact sony dropped the keyboard (however small) from the U series may prove to be a fatal error. I for one think the little keyboard on the OQO will be very handy considering it’s got wireless. I picture myself with either in a wireless hotspot, needing to respond to an email and either, a. crack out the foldup usb keyboard or type with the stylus n the software keyboard in XP on the u series or b. slide out the OQO one and thumbtype a quick note.
I for one will be rushing to buy a OQO, unless Sony brings out a real successor to the U101.
Well, let’s not forget that “better” handwriting recognition can help eliminate the need for a thumb-sized keyboard and possibly be faster. Yes, the current implementation that MS has isn’t ideal but it continues to get better and better. SP2’s new version is supposedly even more accurate than before and MS is no longer taking voice and writing recognition lightly anymore. They’re actually putting a lot resources towards this area so you can expect advancements every year. We’ll see how it all plays out.

I’ll believe it when I see it. PPC recognition is better then tablet IMO. I’ve used both extensively. PPC is slower but more accurate.
IMO, drop the keyboard all together…rely soley on recognition…and design software to improve on it.
I like the slide out keyboard for on the go tasks. At home I could use a full size keyboard, mouse, and large LCD making it essentially unecessary to have more than one computer. Simplicity at its finest.
