Hm… I was just lookin through the top ten posters….gr00vy has 1300+, and several, (drachen, tifosiv, truthseeker) have 500+ posts. LOL, even I hit the top 10 posters list! Do you guys remember back when most people had ~100-200? WOW! This site has grown by so much, and so fast.

After frequenting the Yahoo! TR group for months last year, I’m glad gr00vy started this place. The board format is much better for discussions and guides with pictures. I’m seriously tempted by the Sony Type-S notebook, so hopefully this place will allow other machines in the future.
I’m so glad a REAL forum was started dedicated to the TR. I hate Yahoo! groups, with the advertising and the wierd thread setup. So, thanks gr00vy0ne. This is heaven.
And the reviews aren’t bad either . Actually, I think the reviews are verrrrry informative and great to read. Is it possible to get a guest reviewer spot sometime?

Not to worry, I do suspect I will open this forum up to other notebooks in the future. Or I may need to make a Type-S specific forum as I too may be leaning towards this direction for my next purchase. I do hope Sony does something exciting with the TR in the next “real” revision otherwise the Type-S series will be the direction I’m looking. The larger (but same resolution) screen, discrete mobile chipset (I’d go with Mobility 9700 option), and faster processor would make a truly mobile primary system. We’ll see what happens.

Of course, you could just have a sister Sony S world Website on the same domain, too. That way they could come here when they’re bored and vice versa, and in the end, a whole lot more traffic.
or, you could make the site less specific, and like a ‘Sony Ultraportable World’ or something.

True, but one of the things I like about the forum is that its oriented towards TRs only. That way questions and such are much more directed and I get a good response when I ask a question.
Damn, I’ve really been getting behind in my posts.
chocolonic: I wouldn’t mind the forum going more “Sony ultraportables” at some time in the future. I think it’s pretty well-established that most of us are Sony Whores(TM) and have a strong interest in all things Sony. Just check out the gear forum or all the people who have MDR-EX71SL earbuds in their .sigs…

I agree. As Sony improves its ultraportable line and adds more options to the mix, more of us may migrate (upgrade ?) to other models. Many of our discussions on this site have cross-model applications and could be useful with regard to other/newer Sony Vaios.
Yeah, we’ll definitely see how things go. It’s entirely possible that I can create a more general site…like ultraportables…and then have sub divisions under that. One of them would be the TR section that has almost the same categories and topics as the current site.
We’ll see how things go. I really think it depends on what the next true TR upgrade is and how many of us are enticed by the Type S series…assuming they don’t artificially cripple it when they release it in the US.
I do like this group though so I’ll basically do whatever keeps the folks coming back for more…
