Hi folks. I got sick of the crap that had accumulated on my TR1AP after 5 months’ use. So getting out my retail XP Pro disc I formatted, reinstalled XP, and I’ve gotten the majority of the hardware working - including SOME of the hotkeys - but the zoom button won’t work, and also there’s an unidentified USB device just hanging out in the Device Manager.

I’ve installed the Hotkey manager along with the DLL for Sony’s apps. As far as I know, I’ve installed the driver for the webcam, the modem, ethernet and wireless ethernet. The memory stick slot works, I’ve got the screen at 1280 x 768 just by downloading Intel’s latest display driver, etc.

Any suggestions as to why I can’t get the zoom button to work? It does beep when I push it, just nothing happens. As for the USB device, I just can’t fathom what it is. Please help! Thanks.

One reason for the Zoom not working is the fact that you’re using the latest Intel drivers. From 14.0 on, the Zoom button doesn’t work. You’ll want to revert to a pre-14 versions in order to get the Zoom functionality back.

Wow, you’re fantastic. Uninstalled the 14.2s, put 13.6.1 back on and lo and behold, the zoom button is functional once more.

Still haven’t any idea what the stray USB device is on this thing… What USB devices are there on these beasts? I assume the internalized stuff like the memory stick reader and the webcam are USB, but what else?

Um. I take back what I said about the webcam being installed; while I installed the Sony Video Library and the app for download off Sony Support’s TR1AP site that purports to install the driver for the webcam, I don’t actually see it show up anywhere in the device manager. Short of installing Sony’s bloated video crap is there a way to simply verify the cam’s installation?

Check in the device manager on one of the USB hubs, should be in there, I think…
