First let me say that I’ve been lurking around this board for months… I finally sprung and got me a tr3a and I love it! I immediately burnt a DVD backup of the hidden partition… and installed a fresh copy of XP pro with only the software I needed. This made a huge difference in performance. So far I’m very pleased. I also purchased the semi-hard case and a timbuk2 messenger bag, both very nice. All this was done under the advice and guidance of this board. Thank you all.

Now the issue. Wireless. I’ve been on wireless for quite sometime now and have a linksys router setup. I’ve locked it down as much as I can think to do. My old ‘replaced’ laptop had a linksys wireless G in it and I was able to set that up fine. My girls lappie had some generic card in it but I was able to get that setup fine as well. The issues that I’ve ALWAYS had on wireless is the need to install the management software that comes with the card cause the windows zero config stuff SUCKS. And that’s what I’ve done, until now.
I cannot for the life of me get this windows management software to connect to my router, and Sony did not provide the pro/wireless proset with this machine… and I can’t find it anywhere either.
I changed the default channel on my router to 5 (have tried others), enabled 128bit WEP, enabled MAC filtering, and I had the SSID broadcast turned off.
The laptop seems to find it ok, but cannot connect. Normally I have an option under the hardware settings to change the channel the card is on, but not with this 2200bg. There are like 5 options instead of my normal 15-20. I can’t even get my router to notice this wireless card.
Any ideas?
