I was talking to a salesperson at a store and he said that unless you buy a TR from sonystyle or the sony store, then there is no warranty whatsoever! Is this true? This is in Canada btw.

As far as USA goes that would be untrue. It really wouldn’t make sense for Sony to sell stuff to retailers and then warn the public that if they buy from a retailer and not from us directly we wont offer u warranty. I guess if that were true a lot of people would have taken them to consumer court if their products turned out to be defective and Sony refused to repair them within the warranty period.

Not true in the US for sure. Maybe if you don’t have an original receipt, but you should have a warranty.
