I’ve added a new experimental feature for this site. It allows you to quickly see what are the current “hot topics” on the site. It’s a quick way to see what’s happening on the site and quickly get in on the discussions. It’s located closer to the bottom of the main Index page.

If this is more popular, I can optimize it a bit so that it’s higher up on the page so you can use it more easily. Also, I can add more topics to be shown if you want. As always, your feedback is appreciated.

Great feature, it definitely makes navigating around the fresh threads easier. Perhaps as we gain new members and have more daily posts, you can bump the number up to 10 or so. Also, if you put more than five up, it would be cool to see the listing in two columns to make more efficient use of all our horizontal TR real estate. As always, keep up the great work on the site! 

Ok, I’m going to test this out and see if anyone complains. I’m going to move the “active” topics to the top of the page and have the TR content right under it. The Site Related categories will move to the bottom since they’re not frequently updated…

I don’t know if I can make the data showup in two side by side tables due to the way HTML tables work. Perhaps we can come up with another top 5 list of some other data. Right now we have the quicklinks at the top of the page for other ways of viewing the topics…

Congratulations on a great site gr00vy0ne.  I’ve been visiting for a couple of weeks and have learned a lot in that time eg. my TR1 has a microphone!!, as well as got some cool recommendations for software to try out - MyIE2 and desktop sidebar, to name a couple.

And now a bug report - the Last 5 Active Posts causes a couple of script error pop ups to appear every time the pointer hovers over them in IE.  I have now turned off the report errors function and it allows me to click the links but I still get the “error on page” notice in the status bar at the bottom of the page.  Just thought I’d let you know.

Welcome to the boards LiteYear.

Thanks for notifying me about the issue. I don’t ever recall seeing this error when I was testing it out. Also, for some reason, MyIE2 (which I use day-to-day) doesn’t complain about any problems even though it’s based on IE. Anyways, I found another system to use for testing and indeed the problem shows up on the basic IE6 browser.

I will investigate this further and let you and everyone else know when it’s fixed.

I have fixed this issue. No more error on page notices!

Could u make more lasted active posted? like 10.

Keep it at five, 10 would eat up too much horizontal space. I always just click the “latest” link at the top to see all the new posts since my last visit.

umm too much would take more space, that’s true. how about 7-8?

Keep it at 5. There is no need for more ... the first thing I do is hit the “Latest” link at the top of the page, to see if there are more than 5 since my last visit.
