I have looked extensively, and even done a search of these forums….and no one has asked.  With my luck, ill ask the stupidest question of all and every one will lookat it and think - man that guys an idiot.  I havnt seen any car adapters for the TR notebook- at all.  Is that the laptop requires too much power to run off a car?  Or am I just being stupid?

I have a DC to AC converter for my car. Its not made specifically for the TR, but it is designed with notebooks in mind. You plug one end into the Cig. Lighter, the other end is a standard plug.

I had mine hard-wired to the car so it sits in my glove box at all times. Mine is made by Belkin, but its quite a few years old (7-8).

it works with regular ac outlets, cars and also on planes. tip #11 works fine for the TR.

I highly recommend the iGo Juice adapter as well.  I use it every day.  It will be the best $55-60 you will ever spend.  Plus, it will work with many laptops other than the TR.  Many. 8)

The only reason I took mine over lets say an iGo is because mine is completely universal, so I can hook up a cell phone, or a mini-fridge, almost anything.

I think I paid $40 for mine. They make 3 or 4 different watt models, pick one thats right for you.

The only disadvantage is that you need to carry the A/C adapter with you. In my mind its worth having a universal outlet.

I don’t seem to be able to plug my IGO charger into my laptop when it is hibernating and have it start charging - I need to power up my computer, plug the charger in, and then hibernate again. This seems unusual - does anyone have any advice?

That’s odd.  I plug mine in and it starts charging right away. I do, however, use standby a lot more than hibernation mode.

I’ll try it on standby tomorrow - does it heat up on standby or stay fairly cool? (I usually charge it in its case in the car)

In both standby and hibernation the system is completely shut down.  So it stays real cool.  Give it a try!
