I purchased it from QUINLANF on eBay. This is the same guy that sells the PCGA-CK5T semi-hard case for the TR-series notebooks. He also sells a variety of other things. Be sure to mention this forum if you end up ordering anything Sony related from him.
I’ve ordered several things from him and he’s been extremely reliable. He always provides good communication, tracking numbers and fast shipment. He packs everything really well and even provides english translations for some of the products if you need it. He’s a professional translator over in Japan so it’s pretty good.
The current price is $567 which is pretty good considering the MSRP price of this camera in the US (next year when it comes out) will be $599-649. Most online retailers are taking pre-orders for around $560 or so.
Dimensions are:
91 x 60 x 21 mm (3.6 x 2.4 x 0.8 in)
Weight:
200g (7.1 oz)
Despite it’s diminutive size, it feels solid and suprisingly heavier than it looks. The screen is crazy large at 2.5”. My Casio Exilim Z3 has a 2” which was also crazy large. One huge difference is that Casio’s 2” screen only has around 85,000 pixels while Sony 2.5” screen has 211,000! The higher quality is also necessary since this new camera has no viewfinder at all. I’m going to have to see how that works…but I rarely used it on my Casio so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
I also picked up a 256MB Memory Stick Duo Pro card for it so I can take around 92 (fine) pictures. That’s the other crazy thing…Sony only sells the higher density (256 and 512MB) Duo cards as the Magic Gate kind. That’s lame since it increases the cost and I don’t need the Magic Gate stuff. I have heard that these higher density cards are supposedly faster and can record higher quality streaming video (using MPEGMovie VX) so perhaps that’s also factored into the cost.
Ooh! It stopped charging…gonna play with it now and I’ll give more updates in a bit.
