as far as i know it is an intel prowireless 2100 wifi-chipset and an ALPS bluetooth chipset

for sniffing under linux just use kismet and airsnort and the newest ipw2100 driver (  ) which supports since last version the monitor mode. under windows the hole thing is a little bit more difficult, cause the driver is brought you directly by intel and has a packet-filtering integrated directly in its firmware… so i dont know how far (and even if) it is possible to sniff using the ipw2100 chipset under windows…

please correct me, if i’m wrong..

For sniffing access points under Windows, try NetStumbler .  I’ve personally used it (just for fun) in Windows XP on my TR2AP1.

hmm. netstumbler is good for finding wlans, but not for sniffing the content sent through them/the air.
under linux (a.e.) you have with kismet the possibility to analyse every single network packet, so you get on an unencrypted network everything you want… if they are crypted with wep, just run airsnort and catch about 1.000 packets - the remaining part will be done automaticaly: you get the wep key.
