As my vaio comes from singapore (I think :? ) I can’t register it online over the uk site as it can’t find my serial number.  Do you guys think that it’s worth phoning them up to try and get it registered, or is it not worth it?

I couldn’t register my bought in the UK vaio on the ‘net. I phoned them up and sorted it out. Their database was not updated

Registering gives easy access to program updates, so I would always register.

You won’t get support from the UK, so I don’t see how registering it really helps you in any way…

Contact your importer and have them register it in Singapore you you’ll have support there.

Does it affect registration elegibility?  I upgraded mine to XP Pro per forum tutorial, and I called for help concerning other topics after the upgrade, and they never asked for any registration or anything… :shock:

Please try to call them, if I remember rightly, when you call Vaio-Europe, I’m quite sure there is an option in the line before youi reach the operator, where you can choose to register ‘Non-European’ Vaio product.

When I called them up, the only thing they asked me for was the serial #.

Have you tried registering at Sony Singapore ? Mine is registered by the vendor.

Well I had a go at registering on the sony singapore site, but you need an address in singapore to do it.  My seller now lives in the UK so I can’t even do it though him.

I think when my exams are over in a fornight I’ll just try ringing up sony UK and seeing what they say.  I’m not all that fussed I just feel it’s worth it for something this expensive!!

You can find your serial number by pressing F4 at the startup.

Sony UK are quite helpful. I think you should be able to register your vaio via the customer service hotline and all they ask for is the serial number.
