As most of you are aware the sound from our machines is a bit hard to hear, can anyone recommend some small but powerful speakers so that one can watch dvd’s away from home, and enjoy good sound?

Sony sells a variety of “travel speakers” that have better amplified sound. I received the SRS-T77 set as a gift last year. It folds up for convenient packing and the sound is decent. It can use AA batteries or a travel AC adapter for power.  Availability may vary by country…

You may also want to consider a good set of headphones as you will be able to enjoy surround sound and the such.

Thanks for that I shall have a look at them.I can buy them over here for £59, I also want to try out the creative travelsound.
I am putting off spending a fortune on the bose quiet comfort, as I want to wait for some Bluetooth enabled headphones to come on the market.

Creative Labs makes a great little set of powered speakers.
You get about 14 hours on two little AA batteries, and it
sounds really good. It is the Creative Labs TravelSound CSW5300….
...hmmmmm…I just noticed that my dogs chewed on my
speakers…hmmmm…

Anyway, it retails for $60 here in the states.
