iPod nano reviewed…
Well, it’s finally posted. My review of the Apple iPod nano is done and I think it’s a fair look at it. It’s hard not to introduce some bias since I’ve used so many different other players. The iPod nano is definitely eye-catching but it’s durability is a little disappointing. Still, it works well, sounds great and is easy-to-use and should make Steve Jobs a lot of money.
Next up is a short break and then figuring out the next item to review. I may make a quick iPod shuffle review since I have one in my possession for the time being and it’s easy to write about. If not that, I have a ton of thoughts on the “other” versions of Windows XP. The other versions being Media Center Edition and Tablet PC Edition, both of which I have been using for past couple of months.

I quietly released a belated review of the Sony VAIO S Series notebook (S170P) which sort of covers all of the S Series notebooks to date. Although the internal configurations have changed, the basic “theme” of the notebook hasn’t changed. That theme is performance mobility in a 4.2 lb package. It’s worth checking out if you haven’t already.
Tomorrow, I will release my iPod nano review. The review itself is actually done but I have a few more pictures I want to add to the review that I can’t do until I get home later tonight. I think it’s a fair review although I feel like Apple fanatics may come out of the woodworks and try to evangelize me. Overall, I really do like it; however, I’m just concerned about a few issues that other consumers may want to know before picking up one.
So, expect that tomorrow and I’ll try to keep them coming. I have some other stuff I’m looking at but I’m trying to decide which is more interesting to write about at this time. We’ll see….
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME
I became another year older today and usually with each birthday I treat myself to some new gadget. Although there’s a ton of stuff on the list, I went with something not on the list but in the back of my mind for a long time.
I picked up a HP/Compaq TC1100 Tablet PC. This is the pseudo-convertible model where the keyboard can be detached and it can operate in full slate mode. It’s 3lbs alone or 4lbs with the keyboard attached. So far, I’m using it for school and it’s a very handy tool to have. The specs on the system are:
- Pentium M 733 (1.1GHz / 2MB cache)
- 1GB DDR Memory
- 40GB 5400RPM Hard Disk
- Geforce4 Graphics with 32MB
- HP W500 802.11a/b/g (Atheros)
- Integrated Bluetooth
- Integrated Microphone
So, pretty beefy specs for a little system. It’s super fast and is changing the way I think about computing. I’ll have a more in depth look at it once I’ve had more time to play around with it in real world situations. If anything, it’s made me think a lot more highly of Microsoft’s vision of Tablet PCs.
