  I’ve already finished installing the 2GB Ram ...
Actually, I’m very disappointed !
I don’t feel any kind of improvement in the performance…
Briefly, it sounds like I paid the money just to see that the laptop has 2GB of RAM at the control panel!!

Thought as much… but I’m sure it will help with Vista, Do you have SSD hdd? that seems to be the biggest boost for TR Series…

Actually, I have a normal hdd but I’m planning to get 64 GB SSD as soon as it became cheaper than now.
By the way, I noticed that after installing the 2Gb .. windows starts up slower! Some programmes don’t work appropriately .. others stuck! It seems that the 2GB doesn’t fit to the TR with XP at least :(

Maybe one of the ram sticks is bad? have you tried each on thier own or with a 512mb stick? also try turning off the page file in windows so it only uses the ram… (doesn’t cache to HDD), that may help. It shouldn’t need the page file with 2gb of ram, but will often still ues it.

Well, after several restarts I noticed a better performance .. many of the problems that I mentioned before disappeared .. but still the difference in the performance before the 2gb and now is worthless .. In other words, It doesn’t deserve to pay that bunch of money for it.

And if / when you are back with 2gb again disable the page file, and see if that helps as it seems the regular 1.8 hdd’s are slowing TR’s down, so reducing disc caching may help, info below if you need it…

With the default Category Control Panel:

Head to Start
Select Control Panel
Select Performance and Maintenance
Select System
Select Advanced Tab
Under Performance, select the Settings button
Select Advanced Tab
Under Virtual Memory, select the Change button
Adjust as needed, or select “No paging File,” then select the Set button
Select the Ok button to apply the settings
You must reboot for the changes to take effect

Well, I tested each 1gb stick .. actually they’re in the same performance and no one seems to be damaged .. also and after returning back to the 2gb of ram and disabling the page file I found that there is no real difference yet..

I run Vista on my TR2 and the memory definitely makes a difference. But one should not forget that more memory doesn’t mean more performance per se. I have 1.5GB installed mainly because I use VMWare for software development. Without the additional 1GB, this would just be a pain, if not impossible at all.
XP runs quite smoothly even with 512MB, but the extra memory starts to kick in as soon as you start using “heavy” applications, e.g. Photoshop.

I appreciate the plunge you made Q80 because after hearing what you said, I don’t think I am going to consider buying 1GB sticks now.
